I guess I did do some work on it over the winter, too. One thing that almost every visitor has commented on and I noticed it immediately, is that the rig is QUIET! With all the walls and ceiling sealed tight, there is very little sound transmission.
I figured since the campers 36' long, losing 4" total width wont be too bad, and considering that means double the insulation, hard to pass it up. Have you tried heating yours in the winter yet? I might stay in mine all winter if I get it finished enough, in time, with the girlfriend. Would be fun.
One question, and a crazy one at that... Would a 60x60 corner jacuzzi be too much weight for the bathroom? Lol, I do have about 1.5" thick of plywood/OSB combined, for a subfloor in there.
If you plan on full-timing with the GF, do some planning for heating your fresh water system and waste tanks. Addition of skirting and aux. heat underneath can make the difference between cozy and "I can't take it anymore".
Jacuzzi, nah, I don't think so. The framing won't support the weight of the full tub and people. If you really want one, build it out on a separate trailer and include the sauna while you're at it.:B
I wasn't going to mention it but it's probably best said now before you have any issues: The roof, particularly, the joint from roof to wall is a big problem area on these older aluminum roofed trailers. Since I had rot on the top plate of the walls and the rafter ends, I really concentrated on eliminating any leaks there. The wall siding and roof skin was caulked onto the framing. The aluminum trim edge on that joint was caulked to the siding and the roof. I still had a few small leaks. I ended up cleaning off around the roof edge and applying Eternabond tape. I caulked all vertical seams with Geocel 2300 sealant. After all was done, I did a pressurized leak test and found about 20 pinhole leaks, none of them on the roof.
Don't count on the elastomeric paint to seal anything, it won't.
