Bug screens

I need to add bug screen to the vents on my camper - the fridge and water heater air intakes.
I have a roll of 1/8 inch screening the same size holes as the commercial screen on the exhaust of the furnace.
Would double faced tape on the inside of the vents for the fridge and water heater work?
These are intakes and don't get more than warm-the fridge is even plastic.
Thanks,Mike
  • 1/8 in. screen is too big; there are a lot of bugs that can easily go through it.
  • I don't want to seem argumentative especially since I'm the one begging for advice here but that's the size one would buy at an RV supplies store.
I'm mostly concerned with wasps the rest I can sweep out.
I realize its a compromise between effectiveness and air flow.
  • Standard off the shelf aluminum, bronze or copper window screen will do the job quite nicely and will cost a lot less than the price at an RV supplies store.
  • To fasten the screen I would use construction adhesive. I have used Loctite PL-Premium and the stuff will hold about anything. It typically comes in a caulking tube but you can purchase it in a squeeze tube. Tape the screen in place until the adhesive sets.
  • I used window screen on all my vents on my last 3 5th wheels. Worked just great.
  • I used a hot glue gun & some common hardware, might be fiberglass, window screen scraps I had, more like 1/16". Been 11 years.
