Water heater bug screen

Due to a continuous plague of wasps and Asian lady bugs every opening must be screened on my campers. :(
The vent pops right out on the Suburban water heater door and aluminum screen wire hot glues right in.
If the hot glue is not sufficiently endurable cheap tubes of epoxy mix are easy to find.

Use black screen and it's hard for a casual eye to notice it in the dark cavity.

  • A fellow camper in our park bought a few mesh sink drains..they come in various sizes. He loosened 4 screws and then slipped it over the vent and re tightened the screws. He also did his fridge vents. Didn't have a hot glue gun tho. I will do mine when I get home and have my tools handy..
  • Did the same for mine although on my 10 gallon Suburban the vent does not pop out. Cut a piece of aluminum screen and used silicone to attach it. Used the same type of screen for my furnace and frig vents also.
  • The store bought screens will tell you that you're limiting your exhaust too much with that type of design. that is the reason there's extend out. The HW maker says any screen will limit the exhaust too much.

For that simple reason I just spend the $15 and get the SS aftermarket manufactured one
  • Did the same to our last 4 campers. I used some screening in the square holes of our rear bumper plugs too.
  • LOL
    I hear ya!
"Tinkering " with the rig sure whets my appetite for camping this time of year.
Makes me feel sorry for those folks who can't or won't and have to pay someone to change light bulbs :)

I might say, "No telling how much money the folks here have cost me...:)

I have spent a ton on the, "ideas," I have picked up here on the Forum.
  • Thanks!
Just trying to give a little back for the tons of help I've had here.
No telling how much money the folks here have saved me :)
