Only thing about using the original base that came with the TV, ours was a center mount, with just one leg. Lots of the new ones have legs on both sides, might take a bit more thinking. If you can get it to work, leaving it on its base is a much more stable mounting than a back mount. Ours has made at least 20K miles so far, with no problem.
