When I did mine....also leaving the carpet on the slides....I took a piece of laminate and lifted up the piece of carpet that overhangs the floor and drove a couple of small tacks into it to hold it down. Then ran the slides in and out to make sure everything cleared. Had no problems with clearance and ripped the carpet out and installed all the laminate. I used a small nailer for brads and attached the edge of the laminate under the carpet on the slides that way. What a huge difference for keeping the 5ver clean.
