We are heading up to Wyoming this summer -- there will be mosquitoes, without a doubt. I've been looking for a very bare-bones, light, easy to deploy screen room, but I have come up empty -- almost all of the commercial items are bulky, heavy, and "un-minimal." (There is no such word, but there should be -- what is the opposite of mininalism?)I know I can get mosquito netting and make my own room -- maybe stick some poles in the ground and drape the netting over them, or string up some rope and put the netting over the rope. I don't want to hook anything to my awning - I need a free-standing unit. But before I re-invent the wheel, has anyone come up with a good DIY solution? Or is there a commercial product that you have used that will do the job? I'm not opposed to spending money to get something that is easy to deploy and is not too bulky.Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

EZ-Up has a new product called "Screen Cube" You might do a google search and investigate. Looks interesting. Might even work under an awning?

In my experience - both in North America and East Africa - screen enclosures are far from perfect. It's difficult to get a perfect seal everywhere and mosquitoes invariably find their way in. We have even found it necessary to spray around the inside of the enclosure with a can of pyrethrin spray after setting up to kill the ones trapped inside. We have foregone the expense, storage space and trouble of enclosures in favor of good insect repellent.Rob

Coleman has the Back Home Instant Screenhouse that we bought a couple years ago. It works great. We bought it mainly to keep little kiddo's corralled when we were camping, but it works great keeping bugs out too. Paid about $150 for it, if I remember correctly.

On YouTube, under the life-hacks category, and multiple uses for every day house hold items, I stumbled into several videos that all said the same thing ... Vicks Vapo Rub is an excellent mosquito repellent. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I will!Also, it works for headaches, so they say. I told my wife, she tried it (she has migraines) and she said it really does help make a headache go away. Put some on your forehead and on each temple. 15 minutes later... headache gone! So if you are having headaches with mosquitoes... here's the perfect solution.

If this really is true then you can't go wrong with a PahaQue screen room ... FAR superior, but quality does cost. ;)

I'd never heard of PahaQue - for that much money, they must be really great products!!

We've been going to WY for the last 6 or 7 years and I've never encountered a mosquito. My guess is that you are heading for the wrong part of WY. ;)

PahaQue has been supplying upscale camping products for 20 yrs now, with quality far beyond seemingly similar products offered in big box stores. Back when we camped in a popup we owned a PahaQue Tepee Shower Tent, arguably the finest there is. Camping now with a travel trailer I miss those warm summer evenings showering in our Tepee while looking up at a billion stars in the sky ... should have kept our Tepee! :R
