Fantastic fan screen cleaning

Not sure if this is the best forum to ask this, but - we have a Fantastic Fan in our bedroom with a screen that is collecting a lot of dust. The manual says that the screen may be removed by grasping the "finger hold" feature and popping off the screen. I have had no success in "popping" off the screen and am fearful of breaking the screen ring edge. Any advice?

  • I used my Dremel tool and some very fine sandpaper to sand down and smooth the tabs just a VERY small amount. This made it much easier to remove and replace the pop out screens.
It just takes a very small amount. Don't take off too much or the screen may not stay up there. I think even a fingernail file might work almost as easily and be safer.

  • I think yours may be like mine. I too was a bit nervous to pull in it but once you get it moving it pops off freely. I was able to push towards the center a bit to release the tabs. They are every 3-4 inches so once you get 2-3 lose the screen will pop right out.
  • Try pulling the tab toward the center of the screen while pulling down. Strong fingers helps.

I replaced the screwed in screens with the pop in ones making it easy to pop out and wash. Yes, it's hard to get it to pop out but even using a short screwdriver the tab does not break.
  • i just use the brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner turn on fan then vacuum,
everything is sucked into the vacuum or blown outside

if i need more than that mine have screws holding plastic clips
    loosen screws turn clips sideways
    remove screen
  • Thats how I get mine out. It's kinda tough to start and yes it seems like it will snap but it never has. Just find one of the finger grabs and pull while pulling in other spots at the same time. Like when you take a bike tire off the rim. A little at a time.
  • No screws holding screen in place?

    Some models used screws....

So if none then see if you can rotate screen ---just a little bit to free it up then pull it down

    Ours had screws....lots of them
So I replaced them with POP-Out Screens (like yours has) and have popped them in/out numerous times over the years
