Fantastic Vent Assistance

Hi Everyone,
I have an old model 6000A,I am told that back then it had a pet friendly feature. How does it work? What I would like to do is have it open and turn on at a given temperature. Then, when it cools down, turn off and close. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks.

The MaxxAir vent covers are nice but you can figure on reducing the air moving capability of your fan by more than 50% of use one of them. Use them over your other vents but never over the Fantastic Fan.

The NEW MAXX AIR FANMATE has LESS than 5% airflow restriction.

Mine works very well over my Fantastic Fan.
  • I also highly recommend a "cap" over every vent cover - rain sensor or not. The folks from Fantastic Fan hate covers over their fans because of the restrictions they found they cause. That's why they started making their own that doesn't ruin the performance of their fans. It's highly recommend to use only a Fantastic Cover over your Fantastic Fan.

  • Rain sensors can fail. That’s why I always cover them with the Fantastic covers.
  • I'll bet you could "upgrade" your fan to achieve the operation you're wanting. All Fantastic Fans use the same motor and fan blade. Some are wired for exhaust only but replacing the switch allows it to reverse and draw air in. Everything is an option. The rain sensor is an option. I upgraded our older 6000A series to use a remote control. It will step the motor through 14 different speeds if I use the automatic setting. I can manually select any of those 14 speeds using the manual setting. It will turn off the fan motor in the automatic setting when it cools down but won't close the lid.

I have another fan above my bed that works from a wall thermostat to open the lid and start the fan - the speed is selected by the 3 speed switch on the fan. It was exhaust only and I added the reserving switch so it can draw air in. It hasn't worked well from the thermostat - it short cycles and can't figure out if it should be running or not which causes the noisy gear motor to raise and lower the lid constantly. I push the thermostat to it's coolest setting so it runs continuously and if it gets too cool, I turn it off (works for me).

I think this is what you're looking for:
Fantastic Vent Upgrade kit 7350 Wireless Remote White
    Features:
Hand-held remote for in-your-seat manipulation of vent speeds
    13-speed manual mode
    Thermostat actuated variable speed mode
    Wall cradle
    Automatic opening dome
Rain sensor allows your vent to close automatically
    920 SCFM-High Speed
    Amp draw is 0.2-1.9
    Comes with wall cradle
  • Thanks. The vent already has all the features of the new 7350 including the thermostat. The only thing it does not have is a remote. There is no manual available as the unit , although new, is over 15 years old.
  • Any vent, whether it's passive or is equipped with a vent fan, can be left open 24/7 if it has a vent cover over it - MUCH simpler than unnecessarily having a vent fan thermostatically controlled for opening & closing.
  • For that you should have a thermostat/function box on the wall.

If you do and don't understand it look up your model and operations manual.
