It's not CO2 that can kill you but CO. ;) Some do mount a genset on the tongue or at the rear of their trailer but personally I wouldn't locate a running genset that close to any camper. A running genset also stinks of exhaust smell so the further from where people are the better. :D - mobeewanExplorerI've used a 6x8 tarp using a rope as a ridge line about 4 ft off the ground stretched between saplings and short ropes on the corners with tent stakes. It's low enough and wide enough to protect it in a down pour and high enough to crouch under for me to gas up and start. I use a chain to fasten to a tree or substantial enough item so it doesn't walk away. When not in use it is chained in the truck bed or set inside the trailer door.
- ArcticFox_CatsExplorerThanks, Everyone, for your comments. It is appreciated.
I have the Honda 2200i, along with the LowPro LockDown generator security system. ( https://www.powerequipmentdirect.com/Orbital-Machine-Works-SMS-H2000/p12822.html )

Hence, my questions.
Thank you. - gboppExplorer

Yep, with the powerful cordless tools available and the cable cutter there isn't much that can't be stolen easily and quickly. - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerI keep my genny in the rear seat area of my cab when traveling and place it next to the rear tire on the side where the power cord comes out of the camper. I cable lock it to the rear wheel spokes.
No, the cable lock will not stop a true thief, but will keep the opportunistic amateur from just walking off with it. I sorta hide it by placing a cardboard box over it when not running and a few sticks of fire wood on top of the box to both hold it down and make it look like it's just firewood, not worth the risk of getting caught taking. - GordonThreeExplorerAnyone see the Lock Picking Lawyers new videos on cable and bar locks? Small cheap tools from Amazon or eBay break the most expensive locks he could find.
The $30 ratcheting cable cutter went through four loops of thick cable like it was cutting plastic. - guidryExplorerOn my TC I have a shelf on the back that I strap down and cable lock my Honda 2000. I then cover it with a Honda cover I got from Amazon. If I need it running I either leave it there or put it under the TC. Rain won’t hurt these things; my firefighter friends use them in the rain all the time. When I’m pulling my 5th wheel I have both my Honda 2000’s and cable lock and strapped in the bed of my truck. I have a tonneau cover so they can sit under it a little if it rains. I can also lock them below my trailer if I need.
- SoundGuyExplorerTruck wearing a tonneau cover, with a fan plugged into the genset to ensure adequate cooling, protects the genset in any weather, including heavy rain. :B
- CincyGusExplorer IINot mounted. I generally put it near the slide out on the drivers side which is right next the the trailer wheels and the shore power cord. If we are leaving the campground, I run a chain and padlock around it and the frame or put it in the garage (Toy hauler). If weather is bad but I need to run it, I put it on the down wind side of the slide out, under it enough to protect it from the rain.
- Edd505ExplorerI have one of these on the back. Generator goes on the Lf rear so I don't have to unload to use. I carry a 30amp cord & adapter for gen use, wife made a vinyl cover and it sets on a foam floor mat.
