I understand the concern. But she's 10! She is likely to take offense to a baby rail!!!
I've fallen out of my normal bed at home. didn't feel too good. I would hate to imagine if it was 5-6 ft in the air. Actually slept in a bed in France that was about 3-4 ft off the floor. didn't measure the height but had to get a running start to get up on it. slept all night clutching the covers to avoid falling out.

- wannavolunteerFExplorerMy DS fell out of the upper bunk when he was about 5. He was sleeping so hard he never even woke up. The loud klunk he made when he hit the floor woke me. I went to the bunkroom at the other end of trailer, picked him up, put him back in bed, and after getting my heart to slow down went back to bed myself. The next morning, he had no clue that he had fallen. Guess we were lucky.. or he was so relaxed he didn't stiffen up... not even a bruise.

I came up with a great solution for our twisty-turning 9 year old. We had a bed rail when she was younger, but she doesn't want to use it now because it is FOR A BABY.
I got an old swim noodle and put it under the mattress right up against the lip to hold the mattress in. In order for her to fall out, she has to roll UPHILL!! It has worked great for the 100+ nights we spent in our 5'er this year. Cheap and readily available (you may already have one) and can be removed easily and quickly and can even be used in the pool during the day. Just be sure to dry it!
In order for her to get out of bed, she has to consciously move up to the end and swing her leg over and hop down. I got up on the bunk and tried to get out when I got the idea. I almost had to yell for help from the DH.
This along the same lines I used on the subs/ships I went to sea on. Rolled up a cheap blanket and stuffed under the outer edge of the mattress. Kept me in through a state 5 sea with no problem - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

- WoodGlueExplorerThis is what Lance Truck Campers offer as their solution as well, but I don't think theirs looks as nice as yours Mark. You really did a professional job!
