*If* we were to replace old sofa, what to do with it?

The wife sold our used jackknife on Craigslist with no problem. We had people lined up. Some were going to drive hundreds of miles. Keep in mind you CAN'T TRUST ANYONE ON CRAIGSLIST! Personally, I'm not buying any stuffed furniture or bedding off Craigslist. We don't have little critters in our home or RV and I don't want to import any. I put in a residential couch from our home "inventory" and we got new stuff for the house. Most sofas and loveseats come apart with a few bolts removed. The RV stuff always seems uncomfortable and expensive. We now have a real couch! The people who bought our old stuff must have been blind. The pattern was terrible! Made me dizzy just looking at it. I'd love to replace my drivers and passenger seats with something more comfortable.

Everything I had concerning used furniture.....I sold on CL knowing that all I wanted was get rid of it whether I thought it was worth a lot or not. Other things I took to GoodWill or some other donation center.

I do think the old sofa has value if you have room to store it.

If you buy a high quality sofa you can take it out when you upgrade trailers and put the old sofa back in.

Used furniture has very little value. Even most of the charities mentioned don't want to deal with it. If it was an expensive, heirloom quality piece, there is value. Otherwise, the most likely eager recipient is the landfill. Feel grateful if you can find someone to haul it away for free.

After using ours for a few years as an additional sleeping facility, I gave it to a local college kid for their "house".

When we got rid of the sofa and dinette in the 5'er we sold them on craigs list and I asked what I thought was too much and the buyers widdled me down to the price I thought they were worth.

Our 2nd sofa is in our "storage condo" or 1/2 of our last duplex. It goes back in the motorhome on trading hopefully and the two recliners and custom file/sewing cabinet come out. In the mean time it comes in handy as an extra seating area in the living room, when our kids stay there when visiting family in the area. It sits in front of the fireplace which hasn't been used since my dad passed away 20 years ago.

Donate it to a homeless shelter. The residents would be greatly appreciative.

I donated mine to a single mom living in assisted living, she was very grateful.

Smaller market here, less interest and could take too long but worth trying. Could possibly try advertising on CL in a larger US city (Seattle, Portland, Bay area, etc.) and drop it off en route.

Shop4seats.com makes a very nice double recliner made specifically for RVs. It's a wall hugger design that does not stick out farther from the rear wall than the existing sofa which is critical in our TT. Have not seen any others around like it. The backs are easily removable and made to fit through RV doors.

Their recliners have a few nice options like power recliner and heated seats. Have been drooling over their double recliner for a few years. Tried to get theater seating when we ordered our new TT but KZ said there's would not fit. While our sofa isn't all that bad, esp. compared to many others, it's just not that good for relaxing in for longer periods like watching a movie on TV or reading a book.
