Induction cook tops instead of gas

We fulltime and my wife has started using a single element induction cook top about a year ago. She absolutely loves it and I have to say, much of what she cooks seems to taste better.
I'd like to remove the gas three burner and oven combination and make a storage cabinet in its place and a pair of induction cook tops in place of the 3 burners.
We seldom boondock and for that we have a grill and a generator so the loss of the gas cooking option wouldn't be missed.
Has anyone tried this conversion???

  • No induction, but a two element hotplate with smooth elements. Two different heats made by Deni. All stainless, Sears or Compact Appliance.

  • We have a cook top cover so the induction cookers (we have two) can be placed anywhere. As for the built in ones you then are limited where you can place your pots and pans while cooking and I have heard of some issues with one being limited if the other is running full blast. However, a stove top model may be quieter. The fans on these Nu wave devices are a bit loud.
  • Some higher end RVs are coming with induction burners. We looked at a Foretravel that had two in a drawer. Why not?

I have a portable I use to simmer and cook outside with. They are great. I love using the temp feature.
  • Hi,

I simply put a wooden cover over my gas range top. I secured it with a bungee cord.

I should get around to doing some wooden "guides" for the various 120 volt cookers I use.

You mean the door under the stove top is an oven? I always thought it was just extra storage *grin*.
