Installing a vent hole for dryer

My husband n I have purchased a 2011 keystone alpine 5th wheel that is already prepped for a stackable washer and dryer but we have no idea where the hole for the dryer vent to be placed. Can anyone help by chance? There is no sticker or anything in the closet where the washer n dryer go that says where to make the hole for dryer vent. Thank you for your help

  • There isn't anything on the outside of the 5th wheel for the dryer vent we have to make the hole for it. Everything is already prepped for the washer n dryer to be installed and hooked up but don't know where to make the hoke for the dryer vent to go outside the 5th wheel

Per the pictures I posted, it shows you where. based on those picture I would think I could nail it, spot on. Find a spot free of studs, cut a hole and install the appropriate vent. It should have all the tape/sealant in the packaging. Easier to do with a hole saw of the right size. Drill it from the inside out until you are completely through, spin fast and push slowly. It's not that hard. You do have an RV specific dryer vent hose right?

But based on your questions and your obvious lack of confidence and/or DIY know-how, perhaps you should take it to a dealer to have it done.

My husband is very smart when it comes to doing stuff his self. We have everything that we need for the washer n dryer to be put in including the dryer vent ect. What pic did u post cause im not seeing it.

  • Sometimes you have to just find a place to drill the hole. Closest proximity to the dryer with a clear shot to the side wall between studs. Maybe if you can find pics on line of the same FW or one close to your floor plan and see where their vent is.

As an example, I just googled your model and found pics where the vent is located.

Thank u for the pics I really appreciate it. I'll show my husband. This is very helpful.

  • another thing to consider buying instead of a traditional washer and dryer, is a all in one unit.  doesn't need a vent, just water supply and a drain.

barring that, is there a vent on the outside?  if so remove the grill, drill the hole from the outside and then re attach the vent grill.

Loads are considerably smaller with an all in one though right?

depends what you buy, when they first came out they were tiny and you can still buy smaller 2.8cuft ones.  they say 4.5cuft is big enough for a family of 4.

now that more companies are making them you can get a Ge profile 5.5cuft or stay with any range of sizes under that.

My buddy said you also change your laundry habits when you have one as you set the delay start and throw a load in before bed and have it timed to finish when you are ready to fold clothes, and his was quite smaller as it was over 10 years ago when he bought it, but even then he said you do smaller loads more often.  he actually liked it better as it was less to fold so he would spend 5 min before bed setting it up and loading, then 5 min in the morning folding.  he liked it better than sitting around for a day doing laundry once a week.

or you buy the GE profile, spend a little more (pretty close to the price of buying a fancy stacked conventional setup, but its a fancy one)

THIS       is the GE Canada website, so don't feint when you see the price, but there is a 2.8cuft and the 5.5 they make.  so you can space save and do twice as many loads but with less actual work, or you can get the bigger one and get all the bells and whistles like a smart detergent dispenser that hold enough soap and softener for 32 loads and so on.

the other bonus is they are 120V 15 amp circuits so easy to locate them, and as a bonus your not putting another hole through your rv that you have to maintain

So if it doesn’t vent the moisture outside while it’s drying the clothes, where does the moisture go?

it condenses it and puts it down the drain.  my friend had one in the house, pretty slick operation, they loved it.. he would put a load of clothes in and fold them when they are done.
