Installing a Water Accumator Tank

A good follow up project is to put some insulation around any water lines that touch each other, to eliminate noise from vibrating water lines.

Here's how I did it in the same rig.

A great mod, I added one to both of our TTs. Nice when you flush in the middle of the night and the pump doesn't come on right away. A "companion mod" is to add flexible supply line between the pump and the pex tubing, it quiets the pump down quite a bit so the pulses of the pump aren't transmitted to the hard lines.

Here is the one I put in the Terry, I got the tank at the home center because it was quite a bit bigger than the RV model. Be sure to buy one that is rated for potable water, some are designed only for use in hydronic heating systems.

Also note that I added a valve to isolate the tank for winterizing purposes so I'm not wasting pink stuff filling the tank.

What size would be too small?

I guess it depends on your water use and the amount of room you have for installation. The one that Sure-Flo sells, which is what @deltabravo used in his video, holds about 1/2 gal.



The Watts I installed holds about 4.5 gallons, and was $10 cheaper than the "RV" version. I also had the room for it under the sink in the Terry TT, if I was going to put one in the Lance, I would only be able to fit the SureFlow under the sink.

I've transferred the same 2-gallon residential tank to 3 trailers now.

I installed a small tank on the input line to the water heater to eliminate the dripping from the wh relief valve. It also delays the pump coming on when using the kitchen sink.

A very desirable mod I did to our 5er also. I was able to install a 5-gallon accumulator tank in the empty space below the refrigerator, and included a ball valve in the line which I shut off for travel. Not having the pump come on each time a tiny amount of water is used is great.

I would imagine one could put the accumulator on a cold water line anywhere it fits. The pump is in the bedroom but I have dead space under the kitchen sink. What do you think?

That will work just fine.
