Kitchen Modification

I did a little modification today that was so simple, you folks might consider it for yourself. I installed a decorative back splash behind my stove after reading about successful installations on other forums.

I went to Lowes Home Improvement and purchased Elida brand vinyl tiles and installed them over the blah wallpaper that was installed. Another good brand is Smart Tiles. Here's a link to the tiles I purchased:

Elida Peel and Stick Tiles

To install, you simply peel and stick. You can cut them to size with a razor knife or a pair of scissors. They adhere really well, so be careful to have them fully aligned before you start putting pressure on them. If you just tack them in place, you can remove them and reposition until you have them just the way you want them. It took me about 90 minutes, but I'm really careful measuring and cutting.

Other folks who have installed these tiles report that they hold up well, can be cleaned, and don't appear to be bothered by the grease and heat of the stove or oven.

I think it really dressed up that area of the FW.
