A couple of weeks ago someone on here said they installed the programmable strip lights under their awning so they could be used anytime whether awning is up or down.So I got a set of the 12 volt ones of Ebay for $19 and installed them today.I decided to wire them into the porch lite since it is useless anyway. We have the big spotlight for outside lighting.The tape that was on the strips was not sticky enough to hold them on so I used Lepages No More Nails mounting tape.ClickyHere is a picture after installation. I mounted mine under the awning on the metal bar that attaches to the trailer and the awning. It was just wide enough for the strip to fit in there

I installed a 72 watt strip (the full 16 feet) on my fifth wheel, I bought the RF controller for it, little better than the standard basic controllers that come with the strips, I also just used a regular 120v power supply so I would not be taxing my converter more, and it would not suffer from the voltage fluctuations caused by the water pump of fans turning on and off.I also got a warm white 24 watt strip(16 foot) with the 3528smd chip I used just over 12 feet to run along the top of my slide(inside) and that give an awesome lighting effect inside, very soft light reflected off the ceiling, actually lights the whole living section bright enough to read but it does not seem bright.and I used 2- 3/4 watt cubes, one on the steps up to the bedroom which lights the steps and gives enough to see to not trip on anything, and one beside the toilet enough to see to go to the bathroom without turning on the lights and waking anyone else put both on the same switch, fished all the wires so nothing is visible.next I plan to take some leftover strips from kitchen renos I wire, and put a double strip of 5050smd warm white over my kitchen sink (72 watt for 16 feet) I will have about 5 feet total, put it on 2 switches half and half so I have a low and high setting, and remove the existing light.its neat stuff, very compact, and with the ability to cut for any size you can put as little as a 3 chip piece in about 1.5 inches long, easy to hide, above a shelf or trim, under a counter edge, or kick space, the WP can be used in a shower. your imagination is the only limitation.

I saw them at the camping store and liked them.BUT... Not so sure I could sit outside while they are flashing all those colors that fast.?? Are you able to change them to all white without the blink?? I would be ready to start my John Travolta moves and that would get real ugly real fast !!

All that's missing is a big spinning crystal ball and some Donna Summer music. That would fit right in with the guy at or last CG. Big TH with the speakers so loud you could here it 2-3 spots away and the spots are literally 75'+ apart. What ever floats you boat I guess.

Easy, Francis...

we dont use the "light show" - just solid colors. an upside to the underlight version is that it provides some gentle illumination around the trailer....like 5 feet around the trailer. the amber patio light easily is WAY brighter than these things. I'm not at all interested in affecting your camping experience.

actually when my awning is out the with the location of the strip it cuts off/shadows out at around 30 feet from the awning, because it is up high directly under the awning rail. neighbouring sites around here typically are 30 feet or more apart,(the sites that is not the rvs) unless your in a koa. but it shadows out sooner than a bunch of nascar lanterns hanging on the outside of the awning flap.;)

Yeah mine too. I like the solid color when just sitting around. I put it on orange and dim it a bit.

Just fun to play with the patterns sometimes. Wouldn't want to look at it too long.

I'll post some solid color pics tonight.

the set that I have you can have them doing fades, flashing, you can speed up or slow down the action, or put it on a solid color, white yellow blue red green or any transition point in between any colors, and dim them
I usually put it on white or bright yellow if I need it bright or pick another color for ambient light, I did put it on a slow fade color change mode, but that got old fast.
its nice as some colors don't attract mosquitos as fast

maybe the OP can post a vid on his doing a slow fade, not flashing

I would have to agree about the colors and flashing lights - but I'm too old to have John Travolta moves!!!!
