LED Strip Lighting... not just for awnings

Great ambiance is installing strip lighting (hidden) into the interior of your RV. This is being installed right above our bed in the ole TC. And don't you think blue is such a relaxing color?

  • Did the same in our rig. Used one of the awning multi-color strips for our kitchen counter. Came out really nice I think.
  • You can make your own LED fixtures by getting some of the acrylic wallpaper corner protector at your local Lowes/HD and cut it to whatever length to match your LED strip. Then use some 150 or 200 grit sand paper and lightly sand one side of the protector and mount the LED strip on the other angled side. Most of the strips are adhesive backed, but I like a more positive attachment so I tied them every couple of inches with some nylon extra heavy duty upholstery thread. You can then put the strip on a switch or dimmer and mount it where ever needed. The frosted side difusses the light and creates a nice "LIGHT BAR" effect. The angle protector provides a "fixture" for the LED strip and a secure way to mount it with small screws to where ever you want to mount it.

Here is the strip mounted to the protector and you can see the angle side that has been sanded

Here is a pic of one of my LED fixtures at 50% illumination which is mounted just behind where our TV sits and illuminates the shelving behind the TV where we store our VHS tapes and DVDs along with various other items.

In my OFF-ROAD POPUP I have the strip lights up on ceiling of each bed end up behind the VALANCE curtains. Makes the best night light.. These lights are on a remote control circuit where I can use a remote fob to operate them.
