LED strip on awning roller didn't last 4 months

How well have your LED awning lights held up? For those that have them installed on the awning roller tube. I installed some in April, stuck them to the tube so they were under the flap that hangs off...

I did the same thing with my colored lights and they started going out after the first season. It is not the connector as some of them light and some don't. I have a second roll and plan on trying them next season and see if the same thing happens. I am tempted to mount them on the RV instead of the roller next time.
