Roy Ken - spoon059Explorer IIMy Nash trailer had the standard Bargman crappy halogen lights. The reflector was a flat piece of metal that didn't reflect very well and since the trailer was over 10 years old, the sockets were corroding a little bit and sometimes the bulb would flicker. I went out to Harbor Freight and bought these lights http://www.harborfreight.com/one-pair-submersible-trailer-led-lights-94137.html and installed them in place of the crappy Bargmans. Put a little silicon around them to clean up the install and I have been very happy. Less draw on the tow vehicle, brighter lights and much better optics for about $30 if you have a 25% coupon. Took me 10 minutes to wire them up and silicone them, had them for 3 years now without a single problem.
- PFittExplorerI put these on Very Bright!!http://www.commandelectronics.com/sl_led.html
- rrupertExplorerI have read that if you are replacing the incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs it is best to use red instead of white. It makes the red more red instead of a bright spot behind the lens. Just passing it on.
- VoodooMedicineMExplorerTry Bargman.
Pick out what your looking for and find a dealer. - PmsPksExplorerx2 for Command Electronics. Very happy with ours.
- dtappy3353Explorer3X Command Electronics. Give them a call. They are extremely helpful.
Love our new tail lights. - webslaveExplorerSince you don't list yourself as having an RV; your best bet is to wait until you get one. If you buy new you may find that you already have them as some manufacturers are shipping the new ones with LEDs from the factory. If you buy used, then you should still wait. If your RV comes with Command Electronic tail lights, they make a conversion kit; old bulb out, new LED module in. That's what I did with my FunFinder ('08), but, the new FunFinders come with the LED lights. If your RV comes with Bargman lights, they may, depending on the model, also make a conversion kit. If not, like my Cougar, then you can either go with an LED bulb (less satisfactory) or replace the old light units with an LED tail light assembly (what I did).
The lights I installed are also Bargman, but, you could install any brand from any source and there are quite a few sources available to you.
