Lithium 12v WalMart Battery

Honestly Barney I'm not sure, we've never boondocked. I've read and seen videos that indicated to me that making a bunch of noise might disturb other boondockers or the nature we/they came to see... something like that I suppose.

If you are boondocking, what is the problem with running the generator?

I'm new to all of this, really don't have a great grasp on the solar thing just yet. So I called gpelectric, makers of the Go Power! system I will be installing, to ask about running the RV's AC unit on solar. Given the Winnebago's stats on it's AC unit's current draw the system I'm installing and the battery bank I have will run the AC for about 2 hours. I dunno, but we will see what happens once I install it and test it out I suppose.

If I have to add more batteries or something I will, running the AC for at least a few hours during the heat of the day is important because my wife is at that age where she suddenly gets really hot, so no AC, no boondocking. If I can't run it on solar I will have to run it on the generator, no choice there. Happy wife, happy life.

The manual for my Winnebago Sightseer 35N gives a range of load for RV AC units. It says they draw 1400 to 2000 watts at 13 to 19 amps. Why would a 3000 watt, with a 6000 watt surge capacity, converter not run it?

AC on a battery bank......Will need a trailer for all the batteries and whole bunch of solar panels.....I'm not aware of anyone running AC on a battery bank in an RV ( for any usable amount of time).....Can someone prove me wrong as I'd like to see how they did it.

Roy Ken - understood, now. I just wanted the original poster to be aware of the difference.

Original Poster: You want Air Conditioning on your Batteries and Inverter system??!!! I don't think so. According to my minimal estimates, your AC would draw over 100 amps from your battery bank. I think you can do the math to understand why this isn't good .....

... and further, unless your Inverter is a pure sine wave Inverter, it may likely not play well with your AC compressor motor.....

So with all of this advice in hand I went to town, straight to a golf cart store. They had the Trojan T-105 that is rated at 25 amps for 447 minutes. The store had them for $110 each, I'm a 100% disabled veteran so I pay no tax in my state but I did have to pay a $25 core fee for each battery. So $540 out the door with 4 of them. The inverter is 3000 watt with a 6000 watt surge, hope that's enough to run the AC units during the hot part of the day? I'll have 600 watts total of solar coming in with the 120 portable from Go Power!

Ed Gee- I was trying to make a point of comparing what the OP was getting to a known spec for a similar battery - IMO his second choice of the WALMART batteries is also not all that suited for what he is wanting to do...

- ROY KEN - and others: The Trojan Group 31 battery is a STARTING battery ... not specifically designed for deep discharge. If you want to compare to the proper Trojan battery for RV application your choice should be the Trojan 1275. It's 12V@25A discharge time is 280 minutes compared to the Group 31's 177 minutes. You get what you pay for and starting type batteries are generally cheaper than true deep discharge (golf cart) batteries.

Well, if you put 20 of these in parallel you would have a pretty good battery, about 240AH and would only weigh 35#. Of course, the cost would be $3000 and all the wire to interconnect them would weigh almost as much as the batteries.

Think I'll stick with what I have.
