I built something similar for the back of my fiver wich has worked perfectly for years 
and if someone hits the rear of my fiver and lights up my genny it has a long way until it reaches my truck! Might I suggest you re-locate your licence plate and also the reflective tape can be seen at night for quite a distance, nice job!!!
