Macerator or Water Pump - need recommendation

I am looking for recommendations on a water pump or macerator pump. I have a 50 gallon bag that I will be able to fill in the back of my truck. I only want to be able to dump the grey tank. Can I go the cheaper route and get a water pump, or do I have to get a macerator pump? Can I get recommendations on what pump I would need? My original plan was to pump it up into the bag in the bed of my truck, then when I get where I can dump it, pump it back out of the bag. This would mean using a 12v pump. I am trying to stay cheap as I will probably only use this pump a couple of times a year at most. I don't want to spend a lot of cash and have the pump just sit around.

Use a simple water pump, not like the one used in the RV.
Pick one up at Harbor Freight if you have one.

Thanks to all. I did pick up the adapter to hose for the RV side. Then I went and picked up the pump from Harbor Freight. I did a test using a 5 gallon bucket and it went great. I had to get some adapters to go from the pump to the RV adapter to the bag I am using. The bag is unconventional, but I already owned it and wasn't using it anymore. The bag has a quick connect and I had to make/find an adapter that would work in my setup. I was able to get prime from about 10 feet away, then send the water through a 50ft coiled hose and then up into my truck bed into the bag. It was funny as the pump was able to drain the 5 gallon bucket faster than my hose could fill it. I had to keep stopping and let the hose keep up. Here is the bag that I will be using:

You should be able to find a 12 VDC pump that has garden hose fittings on it. Or use a 12 VDC pump with 1/2" fittings and buy the correct adapters at your local hardware store. Home Depot has them.

Did you get a tank yet?

Of course your local Tractor Supply or hardware store might have something that is close by and no shipping costs.

For a full time RV, I was considering a fresh water tank in the towed vehicle, and then go out and fill the 35 - 55 gallon tank while out sightseeing to add another week or two of dry camping between visits to the campgrounds to dump the main tanks.

    I pump grey water using a demand-type 12 volt pump and a filter/screen. Does a great job.
  • the cheapest I can think of for grey water (not black) would be to get a 5 gallon or larger bucket to drain it into, then use a 12 volt bilge pump to pump it up to the bed bag. at the dump site, just let gravity empty the bag.
clumsy, awkward, and messy. obviously it would be preferable to spend the bucks for a macerator pump, which is what I would recommend.
