- OldcowExplorerI left these bulbs in the fixture, they seem ok. For me it was just to see if there was that much difference with the brightness. Until I start doing more boondocking I don't see a lot of benefit for the cost. They are definitely running cooler.

Glad to hear that cheap and simple Chinese made lamps work for you, and I'm sure to the naked eye they look brighter than the hotwire bulbs they replaced.
I build my own because I can.
Not trying to put you down for that, sorry if it came off that way. I could build my own as well, but with 28 fixtures, it's alot more than I want to take on when it's so easy and inexpensive to buy units that are now so clean and efficient. - GordonThreeExplorerGlad to hear that cheap and simple Chinese made lamps work for you, and I'm sure to the naked eye they look brighter than the hotwire bulbs they replaced.

I just converted my entire RV to LEDs. The units I used this time (new to me MH; converted my previous RV a few years ago) were direct replacement BA15s bulb style with 120-3528 LEDs on them. They put out more light than the 1141 bulbs at nearly the same color and 1/5 the current. They cost only $3 each, and after an hour of run time, only reached 100F degrees.
Here they are. - GordonThreeExplorerDetermined to get embedded photos from Google, trying again!
- GordonThreeExplorerIt used to be public. But I think Google expires the links after a while to stop us from embedding. I'll copy the image to Dropbox.
Fixed it maybe? - MrWizardModeratorgordon, there is no picture only a 'no access' minus sign
you used a private secure link , to your private google acct - GordonThreeExplorerAre we talking 12v or 120v lights?
An 18w 12v light would be even more impressive than a 18w 120v light.
Here's an 18 watt module for the porch light on my RV. It got too hot, over 100C at 18 watts, so I dialed it back to about 10w - it gets up to a toasty 60C or there abouts. The chips are rated to operate at up to 150C, but I think that'd be too much for the plastic housing the module is installed in.
It's still so much brighter than the 27w halogen bulb that was in there from the factory. - OldcowExplorerThey are the regular type fixtures in a TT. Don't know how to post pictures sorry.

Just bought and installed some of these bulbs. Of course my wife reads on the package after the install that they are not for enclosed fixtures. I save the packages and will return them. Thought I would post this in case there are others like me who did not know there was a difference.

What kind of fixture are you installing that bulb in? I have some standard A19 LED bulbs installed in outside light fixtures that are air tight. They run a little warm in those enclosures, but no problems.... are your fixtures air tight, or is there a little ventilation?
