I had a similar size compartment and had a similar problem finding the size. Ended up going with two 6" tall containers. I simply stack them on top of each other. In the end, I'm glad I went that route.
As an added bonus, the under bed containers often have small wheels on them too.
Same here and much more convenient and easier to access. One large one would be too cumbersome to use effectively with things stored on top of each other.
