Power Jacks - can't turn off, Help!

I bought our first Travel Trailer with Power tongue jack and power stabilizers. The buttons are all on the outside of the trailer. My question is.. how do i turn off the power to them so when it is in my driveway and i am not at home someone can't walk by and lower them or mess with them? they are always on?

  • Ahhhhh, typical understanding, non condescending answers. Gotta love this place.

Guess I'll put in my two cents worth instead of just trolling..

I would pull the fuses and if not fused would install some type of hidden disconnect. Shouldn't be too hard..
  • thanks for the advice, sorry about the post in multiple forums - I a new to forums as well. LOL
  • The stabilizers and tongue jack are probably wired independent of the rest of the RV. There should also be a wire from the (+) phase terminal on the battery for the emergency break away system. You should be able to remove two wires from the battery to disable the stabilizers and the tongue jack.
  • Alot of fiver's have switches like that. I do and have never worried about it in thirty some yrs.
  • I will look for the fuses - I think the A frame Jack is direct to the battery. It is a Brand New Wildwood. I do worry as we have had kids going through the neighbourhood at night looking for trouble. LOL
  • You might be worrying about nothing...but, they are probably fused. You could pull the fuse to that system.
