Power tt tounge jack rotation

I just did the same thing. Works fine and was an easy job.

Perhaps you'll be kind enough to clarify as I suspect you didn't rotate the HEAD 90 degrees but the entire tongue jack by drilling additional holes in the TJ mounting plate - correct? ;) If so, it's the same solution offered by some tongue jacks these days, including my own UltraFab 3502.



FWIW, the earlier version of this tongue jack sold a few years ago did have a head that could be rotated 90 or even 180 degrees simply by removing the four head bolts, turning the headat, and reinserting the four bolts.



That's no longer possible with the current design, ergo the reason for multiple holes in the base plate so the entire TJ can be rotated.

Hmmmmm ... apparently not. :R

Well I guess we'll never know if the OP was actually able to rotate the head on his tongue jack OR he meant he rotated the entire jack. :(

He said that he tapped two holes at the top of the jack. That might be enough information without adding photos.

Actually what the OP said was -

I just don't see how tapping "2 holes in the top of jack tube" allows rotating the head. :h

A few weeks ago I rotated the whole jack, not just the top. Haven't used it yet to know if it helped. Going to be close, as I only gained about 2-3".

It depends on what brand of tongue jack he has. It is very simple with the Atwood jack and some others.

I'd like to follow up on this as it's a subject I'm really interested in ... unfortunately the OP won't return and clarify with pics, which only leads me to believe that's not what he's actually done. Rotating an entire jack is easy but how would one drill additional holes and rotate just the head? - I'm ready to be convinced but I'd like to see pics. ;)

With the first UltraFab I owned which was a 3002 I did rotate just the head by removing the four head bolts, rotating the head 180 degrees, then reinstalling the head bolts. Last year when I wanted to replace the LCI tongue jack that came with our Coachmen I chose another UltraFab, this time a 3502, with the plan to rotate the head just as I had before so it would better clear my Avalanche's tailgate. It turned out the head design had changed in the interim (confirmed in an email from UltraFab) so although it would technically still be possible to rotate the head one would have to completely disassemble it in order to do so. I decided that was more involved than I wanted to get with this project and because the new tongue jack came with additional holes in the mounting plate I just rotated the entire jack 90 degrees and mounted it that way.

Annoying as heck when someone makes a claim but doesn't support that claim in any way with links or pics and then never comes back to clarify just what they meant. :M
