We have a fantastic fan in bathroom that we presently turn on at the light switch due to ease of use but wondering how to turn it on easier at the fan itself. We both have trouble reaching the fan controls and it's hard to place a step up due to toliet and walls being close together. Is there someway to attach a device to fan control knobs that would extend down 3-5" so it is easier to turn off/on and different speeds? Having the light and fan switched together is not always ideal.Thanks in advance.

Not sure about your model but mine has a rocker switch in one corner of the vent. I set the fan speed one time by standing on a chair, then use a yard stick to hit the rocker switch. That will turn the fan on or off without affecting the vent itself.If you check out a local big box hardware store, they may have a device that folks use for changing out chandelier or ceiling fan lights. That might work for changing the fan speed.

Our fan has two round controls, approximately 1-1 1/2" diameter. Trying to think how one could attach something. Velcro ?, just wondered if an empty paper towel center would go around it? tt is not home right now, so will need to check this out later on.

I took care of mine. I am of short stature and I just got some wire and a fish feed and ran the wire down the inside of the wall and hooked it up to a switch I bought. got a double plate to mount both the light switch and the fan switch and now it is just right for me. once you set the fan to the speed you use the most you are set to go.

does the knob just pull off a shaft? if so, get a dohickey which is a tube with two set screws used to join two shafts and add a shaft to lower the knob?bumpy

My on-off-various speeds knob does pull off. I like the doo hickey idea. Ace hardware should have the answer.What about one of those `extended hands' devices that wheel chair owners use to pick stuff up off the floor. Maybe it could grab the knob and still have enough space to turn it. I have a fuse possibly in the way.Another idea is to drill two holes in the knob and reach up there with a two-prong steak fork.Remember, when brain-storming no ideas is a bad idea...

Just use a short stick with a flat end and a piece of soft rubber attached. Or possibly a cup shaped end.

I have some of them and I wouldn't think that they could grasp and turn anything like that.

Convert it to the remote handsfree model,same motor,housing etc.We have our control bracket mounted in bathroom near door,but control it from anywhere in unit.We also use our fans for ventilation,in or out.

A hollow rubber ball cut in half and mounted on a stick should do the job.
