I am looking to purchase a generator for our Snow River 234 which has an Ac and microwave, so I'm looking for about 3k watts. I am going to build a bumper mount for it and wire in an AC switch, well that's the idea anyway. My goal is to be able to hit a button and have the genset power our 110 plugs so the wife can make coffee in the am, etc...My question is if I buy something like this:https://www.lowes.com/pd/Champion-Power-Equipment-3100-Running-Watt-Portable-Generator-with-Engine/1000039759I read one review that says there is no point to the remote start since it doesn't have automatic choke.Any suggestions?Thank you so much!

I would be more concerned about starting the genset under load. Normally, you would start then genset, let it stabilize then pick up the load.Using remote start, I do not know if it has a button to energize the 120 volt output.If it has a delay, then the genset should start but may take more auto-cranking.

My daughter just bought the Champion 3400 with remote start and I know for a fact she can fire it up in the morning without going outside the trailer as I've seen her do it. It runs her 15K A/C unit just fine.I don't know about the choke either as my Honda EU2000 requires the choke on when first starting cold.Maybe some Champion owners can chime in here and help.BTW, she found her 3400 online for $999 with free shipping and no tax; go with the 3400 over the 3100, same weight and sound level.

Read up on that one too. Best suggestion is to turn the AC off and let it start , others reviewing said no problem at lower elevations, above 4000 it seemed to get iffy.

It has a delayed output from start so I'm not worried about that. I'm more concerned with trying to start it cold without using the choke. Anyone else with experience?Thanks so much!

Just adding what others have said my Champion 3100 has a auto choke when used with the remote start It also has a delay on the current side allowing it to start and ramp up before allowing current to flow to RV. When using the control panel start you have to manually choke and after starting plug in your appliances

I had the 3100 and now have the 3400
and i can assure you, that it has an electric automatic choke, that work when you push the remote button

there is a push button choke button on the front of the control panel
but that is there for using the start switch on the control panel or the pull rope

Quite easily AND our Progressive 9270 (70 amp charger/converter) at the same time, without a problem, though when on Eco mode, it will ramp up, so it uses more fuel with the higher load.

We never finished 2 gal gas can from new/empty over 5 days of intermittent running, up to about 2 hours or more at a time.

Even better, we hadn't done ANYTHING to it before we went. I had to connect the battery, fill with oil, and fill gas tank at the campground and it fired right up!

I just received a hard start capacitor to install on our A/C for lower powered campgrounds when we don't take the generator.

We are quite pleased!

Will this one run your AC while running basic lights etc without tripping?

We have this one. Surge 3100 watts

Remote start works perfectly, even down to about 42F overnight.

Really nice to run a long heavy 30 amp extension cord to remote it from the campground. Not just quiet, but the noise it does make doesn't have the high pitched metallic noise of some generators.

Sometimes it was 2 days without starting, but fired right up with the remote.

Hi,

My pinella add on remote does have an automatic choke feature. I would be surprized if the Champion 3400 did not have one as well.

Several reviews from Amazon and from Home Depot indicated it would start without using a choke, even in economy mode.
