Replacement of expensive under sink water filter
I have this metal water filter that clogs up about every 3 months and costs $38.00 to replace. I wanted go to home depot and plumb in a less expensive option. Anyone done this, and if yes how ?

I think I'd be worried about what causes the blockage....IE what might be growing in my water lines. Can you open up an old filter for a look-see ??
I think a good flushing and sanitation might be in order (with the filter bypassed). Then an inexpensive pre-filter might solve the long term problem.
$38 is not a bad price for a GOOD water filter.
