Fred,
Just wondering, if the chemicals dissolve rubber gloves, does it dissolve the rubber roof?
Tom
I was looking over the roofing material again, and getting ready to apply the final 3 gallons of bedliner material. It looks like the stuff might have partially disolved the top coat of the EPDM, and soaked into the original roof. Not a chemical engineer or anything, but it it stuck to the roof really well, even in areas I had not planned on coating with material until after cleaning it, but I was running out of material in the 1 gallon container, and had to use it or lose it, so I put some onto uncleaned roof, and it stuck just as well as the really clean areas.
If I had stopped to clean the roof, water might have gotten onto the freshly applied roofing, and so that is the main reason I did not clean, and because only about 1 pint was left in the container, it might have set up in the container if not used soon. So waiting 30 minutes was not an option.
I still have some chemical smell when I open the RV, even 4 weeks later, so I do think that the chemicals soaked all the way through the EPDM roofing, into the plywood, and into the interior of the RV. I keep it aired out so the smell is not to bad, only when I open it first thing in the afternoons.
Saturday I will power wash the rest of the roof, removing the remaining solar panels, and start at the front, working back to the rear ladder, apply it as I go.
I will have to cover the RV sidewalls with 1 mil plastic and blue masking tape first. Then have at it. Should take about 5 hours.
Pictures will follow - in a couple more days.
Fred.
