Hi,
I bought the first gallon from the manufacture's website, they have a company next door that sells auto parts, so that gallon was $139, the MSRP. No sales tax, shipping was about $20?
Then I found that JcWhitney.com sells the same white bedliner for only $118 on sale and ordered 4 more gallons. I think I will only require 3, but got the 4th just to make sure, and I can use it for patching later. That sale has tax on it (9.75% in California) but shipping was free. I think the 4 gallons was about $525. Ask the chat person what part number you need, and they will bring it up for you, and ask about free shipping, they can give you a promo code.
In addition, I bought 400' of 1 mil painter's plastic
1 quart of Acetone
extra paint brush, that I will not need. (each gallon kit includes 1 paint brush and 2 rollers - I did not use the rollers at all.)
Chemical resistant coveralls
blue 2" wide easy release masking tape
So Home Depot suplies ran about $60.
I got a metal paint stirrer at Fraizer Paint, about $9.
TSP cleaner (Tri Sodium Phospate) $6
Acetone resistant gloves $15 at Graingers
Respirator with charcoal filters $30
Each gallon covers about 60 square feet.
I figured about 4 gallons will do my 30' motorhome, but bought the extra gallon so I don't have to get anything else later. And I will be done with the project this weekend.
Total cost was under $1,000, but over $750. At least I can say I did it myself, and it was done right.
There are no longer any water leaks around the shower skylight, or stove hood, something that had started to leak before applying the bedliner.
The chemical smell will take about 3 weeks to go away, and I am not looking forward to that again! At least this time, I can leave my window open, and leave 2 fans on 24/7 until it clears up.
Expecting nice weather Saturday, 74 high temperature, and 10% chance of rain, that means almost no chance in my inland area, but more of a chance near the coast.
I wish I had done this before the roof was 15 years old (will be 15 years old on November 8, 2011) and in such bad shape. Kept thinking about doing it "Someday" but it was really starting to leak bad in a couple of places this winter, so I went ahead with the project.
My guess is that the roofing material was made sometime during the spring or summer of 1996, then installed on my RV November 1, 1996, my build date. I picked up the RV on November 8. It was delayed because of lack of couches at the Fleetwood factory, about 80 miles from my home, and had 84 miles on the odometer when I picked it up, and drove it home.
If you are thinking of coating your roof, it would be a great idea to not wait until it is leaking. Also this coating is super tough, and will resist branches, and anything else. I would not hesitate to put a lawn chair on the roof now. It is also very slip resistant.
