Update:
I put on the next three gallons, and finsihed most of the roof.
To get the sidewalls, I used a 10' ladder, and went around the sides, getting each seam really well, after I was done on the roof.
Because of my large solar panels mounted about 4' from the front of the RV, I had them tilted with the forward side up, and was able to get the roof seam to the forward cap done, along with about 1/2 of the area under the solar panels. But the rear solar mount and about 10 square feet of roofing was left for another day.
Because I was getting tired, I also left another area for the next time I am up there. The most difficult part was close to the ladder, where I was not able to turn around anymore, without standing on the ladder. SO I had about 4' square section to do, and was standing on the ladder, running out of material from the second gallon, and put down what I could reach, without falling. Took a shower and almost calledd it a day. But felt better, so I got out the 10' ladder, did all the seams, and the area near the motorhome mounted ladder.
All I have left to do is tilt the solar panels with the rear side up, and do around those mounts, and about 15 square feet of roof. And I think I will add a second coat to some areas where the coating is thin, and the black EPDM is showing through.
All of the white layer of my EPDM roof washed off when I was cleaning it this morning. This indicates that I waited about 2 years to long to start this project. I was probably very close to needing new roofing material, if I had not done something this summer.
So now I have a thick coating, branch resistant, and hopefully quiet in the rain too. It reflects heat well, and probably offers a little more insulation too, because of it's thickness, and plastic does not conduct heat well. It is very rough, so not slippery in the rain.
I think I will also coat my fantastic fan vent cover, so that the bedroom vent is very dark, allowing me to sleep in. I might also coat my roof air conditioner shroud, as I have a gallon of material left over. I think it will start to crack soon, and that is a $139 cost I want to avoid.
