Your system is capable of a very high voltage, up to 15.5V !! Extended operation at voltages above about 14.5V will kill your vehicle battery !
The "system" sees a very large load, so it kicks up the idle and maxs out the alternator field. This is what you want, but you might not like the results. NOT ALL CHARGING SYSTEMS WORK THIS WAY !
As I said earlier, you are comparing current flow to water flow and it does not exactly work that way. My recommendation to you is, get bigger TRUE DEEP CYCLE batteries (if you go bigger than golf cart batteries to costs goes way up) and get a 12VDC CPAP.
On the extended battery voltages. But how do we know what amps? It may be raising the voltage but with sat 3 amps going in. I do notice if I run the batt down the voltages will be lower.. say 14.2.
