Solar tube skylight

It is very dark inside our 5th wheel and I wondered if anyone has ever installed the solar tube skylights into the roof of an RV.

We had two of these in our manufactured home and they made it so nice and light inside. We had a handyman do the install and purchased the light tubes at Home Depot.

Any thoughts or experience in this type of modification?
  • I would also make sure it is the type with a inside cover to close, so I could choose to keep heat out.
  • It would probably work great. There should be a 14" area in the center of the roof, and as long as there is not air ductwork there, it might be a ideal place to install the solar tube. Of course you will not need the tube part, but just the outer dome and inner section.

If you have air ducts in the center, then you would need to locate the tube someplace nearby.

Yes it will add light to the room. Personally I did not like the extra light. You might also consider installing a solar panel, then you will be able to run extra lights inside with all the extra power that you will have.

    Good luck,

    Fred.
