Stopping peeping Toms!
Our new Winnebago Vista has a side hallway that includes a large picture window. The other windows on the coach have side guards that trap the pulldown shades and also block any sideways view into the coach. Apparently Winnebago was concerned with the narrow hallway and that guards like the other windows have would be likely to be hit by people walking the hallway (they stick out about 4 1/2 inches). This meant when the shade was down, you could see into the coach, through the small gap at an angle, especially at night. I was able to build a workable guard with 1 1/2" aluminum angle (and small brackets) from one of the home center stores. I spray painted them to closely match the 'wallpaper'. The only casualties were the two knobs that open the small tilt-outs at the bottom of the window. I was able to remove the screw and take them off...we rarely use them as they are so small to be not much value. If we HAVE to open them, I keep the knobs in a drawer and they can be just slipped on to operate the window. I did have to cut the small screws that attach the bracket to the angle flush with the bracket so the shade would not catch on them.
