table mounting question

I'm in the beginning stages of some alterations to the interior of my tow behind toy hauler. The front area was a U-shaped dinette/sitting area of sorts. I'm changing that to a permanent bed and a smaller sitting area. I need a table. My current plan is to have a 24"x24" table that will be supported by a typical removable pedestal leg system. I'll want to get the table out of the way at night to provide easier access to the bed.

Here are my questions:

1. Will a single pedestal leg provide enough support for the 24x24 table top? (The top will be used for regular purposes, eating, laptop, writing, nothing abnormally heavy.

2. Are there any drawbacks to the recessed floor mounts, other than dirt getting into them?

3. Do the legs come out pretty easily or can they stick and be a pain to remove and re-install daily?

4. Do the legs have slots and tabs so they stay in one position? I read where someone was complaining about their table spinning.

Thanks.

  • Above is my experience too. Used on a much larger dining table (about 2' by 4') with no problems.

Cheap Advise: Make darn sure where you're putting it is not going to interfere with anything below, and where you want it, this is not a time for an "oops".

Those legs are pretty stout, one should do it.

Not really, you want the mount to be recessed so you don't have an obstacle on thee floor when the table is removed.

They are pretty easy to remove.

Generally not, the table will spin if you want it to. If you push down on the leg so it makes a tight fit, the table is not going to spin on it's own, you would have to push it.
