Tv Mount in CRT TV cabinet space

Im replacing a CRT 19" tv with a 32 inch flat screen. The old tv sits in an entertainment cabinet space. The new tv won't fit in the space. Want to mount it in front of the space. Any suggestions on Mount system to use?

If the hole measures good try to recess the back board into the hole. Then hopefully your swing mount will have enough to mount the TV to it and not stick out too far from the cabinets... They make all kinds of mounts...

You problem will still be how to mount the TV to mount with no space to work with behind the TV... You may have to mount the TV to back board first then screw the back board in place inits four corners with the TV already mounted on it ????

You will want to rig it so you can take it down easy somehow or hook up additional cables etc... Some folks don't like to leave their TV in the RV when stored especially when it gets cold etc...

  • Yes, I did measure to make sure the width would be ok. Figured easiest solution would be one that would allow the new tv to be in front of space,.but also wondered if I would need additional support for installing the mount. Thank you for the ideas.

The 32-inch might fit between the cabinets. Fill in the old TV hole with a back board and attach the 32-inch TV to that... He may have to go with a 26-inch model...
  • OK. Assuming floor of cabinet is fairly solid. L-shape frame(think bookend) made from 2x6, attached to cabinet floor, pull-out full adjustable wall mount for tv. This will allow tv to be moved to either side for access to side cabinets for less-used stuff storage. Velcro strap to hold tight when traveling. Height should not be a problem, as flat-screens are wider and shorter than tube types. Use space behind tv to store more stuff.
  • Thought about a lift-off type of mount, but probably not enough room above to be able to lift off. Think about a pull-out mount mounted on one side of the cabinet, depending on where you have solid support.
  • OK, this one might be a bit tough. I notice that the old tv has speakers on each side, which make it a bit wider than the screen. Will the new one fit between the two cabinet doors on each side?? If you haven't got it yet, look for one with the narrowest edges around the outside. That way you get the most screen for the width. I am thinking about building some support structure inside the cabinet, then using a pull-out type wall mount. Velcro strap to go across the front when traveling. Are you game for a little cabinet remodeling to set the new one flush?? Due to the weight of the old tv, there should be some solid structure in the current cabinet to support it. See what is there.

  • Post pictures of your cabinet, hard to advise without seeing the application.
