2DHOOP......I used to be VERY involved with woodworking. Built all the furniture in my house, a couple of cedar strip canoes and a few wooden sail boats. But once I started messing with metal there was no looking back. Now all the woodworking tools are gone. Replaced with a Lathe, Milling Machine, Grinders, Sanders, Blast Cabinet, MIG, TIG and OX welding equipment and recently added plasma cutter.
Gunsmithing is the ultimate extension of working with machine tools and metal.

Not sure if it's the love of the tools that give an excuse to build stuff or the other way around. I guess maybe RVing might be the same way for folks that go places just to use a cool tool like an RV and truck. Still trying to figure it out for myself, but it sure is fun.

"Welding is knitting for men!" - RVcircusExplorer IINicely done!
- 2DHoopExplorer IIVery nice. I respect your abilities and the fact that you take pride in your work as represented in your willingness to document and share your build process.
I enjoy advanced level woodworking as a hobby and I'm always impressed with you metal working tool guys when I need answers about older 3 phase motors and converters. Thanks for sharing. - RbertalottoExplorerThanks! Yes, that is a very special rifle in my collection and a real fun project. Lots more in there if you look around....
- gkainzExplorerTook a quick peek at your other info on your website (ok, quick peek became an hour of oggling, oohing and ahhing!) :) Loved the Ballad of the Ballard!
- profdant139Explorer IIWell done! The same idea could be used for other types of storage -- I am sensing a big project coming on . . . . .
- Chuck_thehammerExplorerI made something similar. a few months ago
for a 32 gallon Barker with 4 wheels.
not as nice as yours... - hbillsmithExplorerYour custom bracket looks great. Wish I had the skills to build it. I had a similar need and found something that worked for me.
BAL makes the "Hide-A-Spare" and I think it will work similarly. I use a HideASpare to care my 10' Porta-Bote hull and it works great. There are 2 mount plates that get screw mounted to the frame (one on the left frame rail and one on the right frame rail. The frame that will hold the tank mounts to the pivot bracket on one side and when you lift the other end up, their lockable shelf bracket that locks. Harder to describe than just go see this youtube. BAL-Hide-A-Spare
I ordered mine from PPL in Houston and it was $65. Just note that BAL makes different models depending on your trailer's frame type. You can go to the BAL site or call them for help deciding which model is right for you. - RbertalottoExplorerTo market it, it would have to be adjustable as all trailers are different and there are different sizes of totes. But any reasonable fabricator could make one up in a jiffy.
Thanks
