Hi myredracer,
I'm not disagreeing with you, just putting things in perspective. This is more pointed towards your 0.05 microns statement. For camper use, 0.05 microns is impracticable. The common water born organisms found in potable water systems are bigger than that. See this chart to help explain what is what size. This if from a large RO membrane manufacture.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that anyone use a 0.05 micron filter in an RV, I was referring to what the CDC says you need for effective filtration of bacteria. The flow rate at 0.05 would have to be very slow.
Here's specs below on the Pentek Floplus filter I chose. It will remove up to 99.95% of microbial cysts, filters sediment and has all the features of a carbon block filter. A really nice feature is that even at 0.5 microns, it has a flow rate similar to a 10 micron filter. I was looking for a setup so I wouldn't have to use multiple filters and would not end up having a poor flow rate. I had two 5" filters (sediment + carbon) in series in our old TT and the flow rate was terrible. Fortunately, I'm able to connect to the incoming water supply under the kitchen sink and have enough room for a 10" filter housing. At first, I was thinking of using a "spin-down" sediment filter (see link below)as well but it was too expensive and too bulky. Would be nice, but not in our TT. The one we have for our well at home works great and is easy to clean. The Pentek filter is $39 at Walmart but available online for around $16.
Floplus 10spin-down sediment filterI'm modifying the water system in our TT with the parts shown in the photo. Wanted to maximize flow rate and to have a decent regulator inside. I'm replacing the water inlet with an all-brass one, removing the check valve inside the inlet and installing an inline one with better flow; a wye screen strainer (#50 mesh); a gauge with tell-tale needle on the line side; a Watts 263A regulator & gauge; and the 10" whole house filter. I wanted to make sure it would all withstand a high cg pressure (have read of reports of 160 psi) so am using hard pipe up to the regulator and a Valterra high pressure hose outside with a 200 psi burst rating. I'll take the little screen strainers off the hose as they seem to plug up easily and I won't need them now. Will no longer need a regulator outside.
