The variable speed pumps work great and are very quiet. BUT... Beware the SureFlo has been defective from the start. My 1st one quit pumping, and the one I bought 2 years ago in Quartzsite started leaking and SureFlo replaced it with a noisy demand pump. Lots of posts on the forums concerning this.
Moral: There may be a few of the Sureflo's still for sale... Stay away from them.
FloJet, Aquajet both make variable speed pumps, and I have a new FloJet sitting here to be installed later today.
In addition to no pulsing, I don't have 10A on-off-on-off load on the battery every time the pump cycles. The motor will only draw the current necessary to maintain proper pressure and no more. A big deal when you're being chincy on the battery when dry camping.
