Water pump upgrade

Has anyone upgraded the demand pump in their rv?
Our Jayco 25RKS makes noise from the flex tubing rattling against the floor and walls. Do pulsation free pumps really work as advertised.

  • The variable speed pumps work great and are very quiet. BUT... Beware the SureFlo has been defective from the start. My 1st one quit pumping, and the one I bought 2 years ago in Quartzsite started leaking and SureFlo replaced it with a noisy demand pump. Lots of posts on the forums concerning this.

Moral: There may be a few of the Sureflo's still for sale... Stay away from them.

FloJet, Aquajet both make variable speed pumps, and I have a new FloJet sitting here to be installed later today.

In addition to no pulsing, I don't have 10A on-off-on-off load on the battery every time the pump cycles. The motor will only draw the current necessary to maintain proper pressure and no more. A big deal when you're being chincy on the battery when dry camping.
  • Insulating the discharge line will help quiet the pump noise down.
Adding a small accumulator tank to discharge will also help with noise and pump run time.

Cheaper than replacing pump.....which may or may not be any quieter or work better than stock pump
  • Before you change pumps, try using some foam to remount the one you have and also to isolate the lines from the floor.
