Where do I put my level when leveling T.T?

Some people say level the refrigerator only, others say just place level on floor, others say place it on against the outside wall of the T.T. and others I have seen this one. Use the bumper of the T.T. or the A frame of the T.T. ( front ) Which one it's the must important or accurate way on doing this? Because if I check them all they all give me a different reading on the (Bubble level )Which it's driving me bananas:S

Thank you all
  • I did a test and got my rig as level as possible using multiple locations. Then, once I felt it level, I put my torpedo level on the counter, which was near where I store it. It also showed it level in one particular spot, so now I use that location only.
  • This works for us.

We found a level that was comfortable for us to be in the rig and everything worked. (I am more concerned about the shower draining than the fridge.) I took a reading on the counter above the silverware drawer, that just happens to be next to the stove and fridge, and try to match that reading when we park.

For us, that means unless we are on an absolutely level concrete pad, we need to have the slide side about 1/2 bubble high before unhitching. The rig will settle to just shy of level when unhitched and slides out.

    YMMV
  • I put our level on the countertop next to the stove, which is next to the refrigerator.
Been doing it that way for 25 years.
  • My TT is 18ft. For side to side, I put it on the back bumper. For front to back I open the door, which is next to the counter containg the fridge underneath, and set the level inside the door on the floor.
  • The fridge is the critical factor so make sure the fridge is fairly near level. That would mean placing level near fridge.
  • Yeah, I sorta agree with downtheroad. First thing you need to do is get over the idea that level has to be perfect. It doesn't.

So some will level the stove, so their eggs cook well. Some will use the fridge, thinking that it needs to be perfectly level to operate (it doesn't).

I just drop the level on the floor, if there is a solid surface area. Try to get as close to over the wheels as possible, because all trailer frames will have a crown, and will sag forward and rearward of the axles. But even that won't really matter, because it is not that critical.

So I use the floor to level it once. Then, while it is level, attach levels to the outside of the body. Then never check it again. Just use the outside levels when parking.
  • Simple enough:

    >level the refrigerator only,
    >place level on floor,
    >place it on against the outside wall of the T.T
    >Use the bumper of the T.T. or the A frame of the T.T.

There, that should clear it up.
  • Don't over think it...

We go by feel, side to side is adjusted before we unhook, level front to back with the power Jacks. ..

If leveling was such a big deal for the fridge we would see so many dead fridges because most of us drive with the fridge turned on...
