People use house paint on old tires when they use them as planters--and it sticks well for years and years.
2. House paint is proven to give long-lasting outdoor protection (on your house).
3. Water-based latex paint will not harm the tires.
I think white would be the most effective choice--since it will keep the tires cooler. But I will porbably do black to match the tires so my wife is OK with it (or doesn't notice it). Also, you won't be able to tell if it flakes off.
I can't find a reasonable reason not to. Can you?
Waste of time, money and materials.
Tires ARE a "consumable" item.
Even IF whatever you slather on the outside sticks, there IS continual breakdown of the rubber compounds under the surface and inside the rubber.
Rubber WILL harden and get brittle over time whether in the sunlight or placed in a dark sunlight resistant vault.
Since tires are a consumable you are much better off just replacing them after 5-6 yrs ANYWAYS..
Typically with auto/vehicles you are driving more than enough miles that you wear off the tread BEFORE the tire carcass life is exhausted..
With RVs, the carcass wears out before the tread.. Just the "cost of RVing".
Years past, folks would get the tires retreaded once.. Now days not many places will retread tires, just not worth taking chances and you don't save much money in the end.
Use them and replace them 5-6 yrs.. And yes, if you don't travel a lot of miles they will have lots of tread left.. BUT they will not have much life left in the carcass..
But it is your time and money to waste anyway you wish..
