11' garage and 12'6" kayak, will it fit?

The diagonal measurement of an 8'W x 11'L rectangle is 13.6' (13'7")

IF height is 8 foot then diagonal measurement from bottom corner to opposite top corner is 15.7' (15'8")

AC= sqrt(AB^2 + BC^2)------Square root of (8x8 + 11x11)----13'7"
AD= sqrt(AC^2 + CD^2)------Square root of (13.6x13.6 + 8x8)---15'8"





With overhead cabinets you lose at lot of diagonal length
With jack bed/sofa .....may be a obstruction
12'6" MIGHT fit

Take a 25' tape measure and measure distance from top corner under overhead cabinets to opposite bottom corner

Found a nifty triangle calculator and found I can put the rear (stern)of the kayak against the back left corner of the garage and angle the nose (bow) 28* to the right and it will have to be about 6' away from the left wall. All this assuming the kayak was as thin as a straight single line.... but these garages are almost 8' wide inside right? Should fit easy peasy?

I think we are saying somewhat of the same thing you just came to a more conclusive way of getting there.

AC is the diagonal distance from one corner to opposite corner of a rectangle
Flat rectangle 8' X 11'....diagonal is 13'7"

AD is the diagonal distance of that AC distance to opposite corner of the box
Rectangular box 8'W x 11'L x 8'H.....diagonal from bottom corner to opposite top corner is 15'8"



8'H used is just an assumption on height of TH garage.
Taller would allow for MORE distance

if you put one end on floor under cabinets I don't think you will lose that much length???????? if any

If the kayak is positioned diagonal (say) bottom left (back) corner to top right (front) corner, why can't the lower end be at the front and the higher end at at back? Unless you have cabinets that go all the way to the floor? = front (bottom) right to back (top) left?

With the fictional problem I have presented, I don't see why that wouldn't work. I don't even have the kayak yet. It's a wedding anniversary gift from my wife and I'm expecting delivery of it in the next couple weeks. The toy hauler doesn't even exist yet either. I'm trying to plan ahead for a future purchase and was just getting my ducks lined up before hand.
