110 outlet with 12 volt socket?

Hey All,

I'm curious, if anyone makes a combination outlet that has a single 110 plug/with a 12 volt cigarette style socket? Our bedroom TV spot has a standard 110 outlet, but I"d love to be able to use the TV I currently have which is 12 volt powered. We could then use the TV when we are dry camping or hooked up to shore power. I have an adapter, but would be nice to not look at the wad of wires that go with it.

Thanks
  • As a general rule, combining high volt (120) with low volt (12) in the same box is Not advisable for obvious reasons. You could always add a second box with a 12 volt outlet providing you have a way of getting that power to it.
  • It's (safely) done all the time with 5V USB charge ports and 120V receptacles but I don't think anyone makes a 12V/120V outlet combo. Probably just not a big enough market for them but I could use one as well.

Yep, I agree but that is internal within the USB/120 volt outlet, only 120 volt in. Running 12 volt wires and 120 volt wires in the same box without some separation, I have not seen but it doesn't mean its not available.(you can imagine the results if wires were inter-twined).
  • I have a step-down transformer that I use when I want to use my air-pump but had to plug it on a 120 outlet.

Of course. It is called a 12 V power supply.

But........that TOTALLY defeats the primary objective, which is to be able to use the 12 V TV with no 120 V power present.
