I've been in this area I'm assuming the rode on the hiking trail by mistake. Theirs Buck Creek hiking trail.
They were on Snowy trail. I belong to a Facebook forum with one of the guys that was on the ride. He posted tons of video.
Thanks I was just trying to figure out how they got LOST??
He didn't give the full story. From what I have read, a couple of guys broke down and I'm not sure what else happened. That's one of the toughest trails up in that area. I've read numerous accounts of people sleeping out there and/or abandoning their bikes and having to go back and recover. I even think there is a guy that documented his bike recovery on youtube.
I read it in the beginning of the thread but I guess it was someone making fun of them. I now read they ran out of fuel. Then I read that they went down 12 foot drop they couldn't back up. Who really knows what happened.
Learned that early on from a seasoned vet, never go down unless you're sure you can get back up. I've done search and rescue for club members and they had bulldogged one bike out, rode double and next day we recovered the second bike. They knew where they were though and these are VERY seasoned expert desert racers (one a multitime number one in various desert racing divisions) so it can happen to the best.
