1/2 ton towable - sure

We just traded in our Cougar 314efs. This is a 33 ft Bunkhouse.

Saw it on the web today with the comment "towable by most half ton pickups".

The GWVR is 11700.
  • Our new Cougar284RDBWE says right on the side 1/2 towable. Whatever they say????? Maybe the new 1/2 tons????? I sure would not tell anyone that.

But is it 1/2 ton stoppable? I was cut off on the steepest part of the coquihalla yesterday by a semi. He was doing maybe 20MPH and I was doing 55MPH, jammed hard on the binders, the wife braced for impact, but we avoided a collision. Try that with a 1/2 ton pulling a 12000lb load.

Out of curiosity, did you get the semi's truck # and company name? If so, call them and start working your way up the CoC and complain about the moron.

No damage done, only a pillow fell of the sofa. Just reinforces my decision to "over-truck". As far as complaining about the driver, the complaints will just fall on deaf ears and will only result in frustration for me.
  • I`ve got to say, I fell for the old " YOUR TRUCK WILL TOW THAT " when we bought our Keystone Outback. Yes, it pulls it but I "WHITE KNUCKLE" it when I do tow, and I have a 2005 Dodge ram with the hemi and towing package , with beefed up suspension. After replacing the tranny with only 84000 miles on the truck after we bought the FW , we now will wait till next year to get the BIG TRUCK. Expensive lesson, but we love the FW!!!!

  • It is 1/2 ton towable, it will hook up and go. Heck I can tow it with our Ranger. I wouldn't WANT to try it.

And most Tundras can pull the space shuttle. :)

I think it was more like the space shuttle was pushing the Tundra.

I've actually seen the shuttle towed and lifted up on the 747 when stationed at Edwards.
  • I had to quit selling cougars, they said 1/2 ton towables but I always felt like a liar.
