There really isn't that much of a cost difference between a 150/1500 truck and a 250/2500 truck. You might need to check a few (not many) less option boxes on the 250/2500, but you get a lot more truck that is better suited for towing.
If you don't have the truck yet, investigate further. You will open up many more options for a RV, and have a much more pleasant towing experience.
That said, when I eventually retire, I will almost certainly sell my 5er/truck, and move to a motorhome. About the same amount of tires to replace, not much more maintenance on one more engine, and, in my opinion, a better platform for full timing.
