- larry_barnhartExplorerA brake and wheel bearings will need a look.
chevman - desertratt1ExplorerHi,
Well i looked at the alfa today and overall in good condition. No leaks roof was in good condition. It has a fiberglass ribbed sides to it and are some stress cracks in some places. Anyone had any experience with repairing them?
It also has an inverter with 4 batteries which i am sure i will need to replace all of them. Has the typical sticker fading etc but i think i can spruce it up. Oh and tires will need tires it has michelains on it and suggestions on tires they are 245/75/16. Oh and we settled on 3200.00. So i am fairly reasonable and get to try this out and can go from there. I have a cummins 2001 2500 and it is setup with hitch. Appreciate everyone's input. - desertratt1ExplorerFolks thank you for the replys. I plan on looking at the fifthwheel this weekend. If anyone has photo or brochure or layout would be appreciated its alpha gold 32rl.
Thanks again! - stripitExplorerOwned a 1994 Alfa Gold 38.5 ft that we bought in 2002. It was a good unit for us and towed well. We liked the fact that the windows were so huge that it felt very open when you walked in. The basement a/c on our unit worked perfectly. For what he is asking for the unit, make sure the roof is not leaking, the appliances operate and the tires are road worth. Hook up and go have fun. If there is any specific questions just ask.
- larry_barnhartExplorerWe bought a 32 ft alfa ideal in late 98 but it was the first 99 model to hit Tacoma. We looked at the golds and they were so much nicer on the interior wood trim but a ton more money. We just wanted to buy for 2 years and then decide what we wanted. My cousin has a 2001 alfa gold and has full timed in it for years but sitting now in one spot. Basement AC has been a problem for some but we didn't have any issues for our 2 years. You might be getting a good deal as others have said for problems because of age.
Not much quality in the new fifths so it might not be fun buying new either.
The proof is sitting across the street from us for a poor quality unit that was new last year.
chevman - retispcsiExplorerThe biggest issue here is that it is 18 years old. Everything in that unit is probably 18 years old. So be prepared to put out a fair amount of money for repairs if needed. If you get serious about it call around and find a RV place that will do an inspection for you. It could be worth the money. Good luck.
- GoostoffExplorerHere is one right here. Funny looking Alpha
- GoostoffExplorerI didnt even know this company existed until this past summer when I spotted one at the campground. It was the oddest looking 5th wheel I have ever seen. The whole fron cap was even hinged somehow at the top and would open up to expose windows on the front. It really wasnt my cup of tea but I am sure it was a good conversation starter for the owners.
- Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerJust be sure you want to purchase from a 'friend'. If the unit has problems could harm the friendship. We sold a 4 year old Mobile Suites to a friend that had no problems at all. Do not know how he treated it but shortly after the fridge quit, tires started blowing and windows started leaking. Not so friendly now.
