2 year old 15k dometic A/C just bit the dust

no, there are no threaded fittings. When built these units, like your home refer. are sealed after the charge is weighed in. There's a short stub of copper coming off the compressor that has solder in the end, that's where the factory charges it. They have a special dodad that does it and seals/solders after the charge is added. You have to drill a hole and braze in a Schrader valve in the suction line. If the system is totally flat then there's a leak (mine wore a hole through the copper where it went through a bulkhead). Unlike auto AC these units should NEVER need to have refrigerant added or changed, again just like your home refer.

Check for ice on the inside not on the outside of the unit for being froze up. In humid weather you need to run it on high to keep from freezing up.

I'm on my third Dometic 13.5k unit on my WnP, both replaced under warranty. I'd go without a/c before ever putting a Dometic a/c back on if I had to pay for it. I'd at least contact Dometic and see of it falls under the bad batches they will replace.

The ice would be inside not outside.

do some checking yourself. Mine went flat, found/fixed the leak and recharged. However A/C is my business so it was free but it was not a difficult fix but must be done by someone that knows what they're doing.

Can you hear the compressor run when you first turn it on, then it tries to run and shuts off? That would indicate low/no charge. If the compressor does not try to run then it's most likely a controls/thermostat problem.

very well could be a bad start compacitor as well did you look at it? See if it looked like a exploded battery ontop? checked wiring that could have came loose?

Call Dometic with the model and serial number of your A/C. They had a bad batch in 2014 and 2015. Ours went out last summer and they sent a mobile tech to replace our 15000 at no charge. They gave us a five year extended warranty on our 13500 as it was under the same recall but still working.
