2001 Dutchman Signature

Looking real hard at a 2001 Dutchman Signature for $6900 which is negotiable. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with such? and if so how was it? Would you buy another Dutchman?

  • If memory serves me right I had a 2000 Dutchman Signature. It was an excellent rig and top of the line. A couple of years later they replaced it with a different model and quality was never up to the Signature. Ron Day
  • If you have not bought a used RV before, keep in mind water leaks are the number one killer of RVs. Search HARD for any evidence of them (ceiling staining, soft spots in floor). If they are evident, it's not worth much as the cost in material and time is huge to fix. When purchased cheap by someone who enjoys that sort of hobby work, can be a good deal for that person. If you have to pay someone for those repairs, getting one free can be absurdly expensive.
  • IMO treat it as with any older used RV. Get the lowest price and be prepared to spend a bunch fixing it. Then hope that you come out ahead in the end money-wise after you get it good to go.

Back in 2001, Dutchmen 5ers had "issues" of whatever sort. We got a 2003 Komfort 5er and sneered at any Dutchmens. Fast forward to not long ago, and Keystone bought out both Komfort and Dutchmen, then proceeded to put both in the dumpster.

For a couple of years just before the end, Dutchmen Denalis were the same as a Komfort built in the same Komfort factory before it was shut down.
  • What roof and side maintenance can the seller prove?
Seventeen year old RV needs a pro inspection before purchase.
  • My best friend has a Dutchmen toy hauler and he is happy with it. It’s a 2013 though, so not sure how relevant that is for you. Good luck
